5G – What It Has To Offer The Cell Site Industry

While technology is really speeding fast, 5G connection would bring you nothing more than an improved “speed” or “bandwidth” boost: it would allow you to stream a video at a higher rate than ever before, but it would do little else.

The increased speed is achieved partly by using higher-frequency radio waves than previous cellular networks. However, higher-frequency radio waves have a shorter useful physical range, requiring smaller geographic cells. It requires a variety of transceivers and connections, but the end result is the same. With this ability, a user can literally take his or her Internet experience to the next level and connect anywhere, anytime.

5G Technology

In fact, with a real time 5G connection, users can use devices such as smart phones and tablets to surf the web and stay connected no matter where they are. With access to Wi-Fi hot spots and satellite services, these devices can link up to each other and to the Internet to download and upload information in real time. With this powerful new technology, smart cities are realizing the benefits of combining multiple networks, traffic, and communications into one area.

In order to take full advantage of a 5G network, there are a number of key things to consider. One important consideration is virtualization. As noted above, a 5G connection can support real-time data transfers, which is done through the use of VoIP (voice over IP) applications. Virtualization means allowing one program to run on top of another, and this is what is necessary for smart city solutions.

Many people are also concerned about the fact that many current phones, such as the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S20, do not support this new connection standard. However, there are several modern phones that are now available that do offer this high speed internet connection. There are even phones that are available from AT&T and T-Mobile that have been specifically designed to work in conjunction with the new networks.

Other providers of the networks have begun offering 5G technology phones of their own. For example, Verizon Wireless has recently announced the availability of the LG Electronics’ Magicia line of mobile devices. The Magicia will work in conjunction with the company’s new 2G and 3G phone models. Other carriers, such as Sprint, are also expected to offer new, more enhanced services in the near future.

While it is still early in the evolution of the 5G home internet service, it is obvious that it is far from being a distraction from today’s cell site. In fact, many analysts expect that the adoption rate of these new wireless technologies will be rapid, making existing customers happier and encouraging new ones to choose this brand of mobile service. It will likely take time before the different carriers can offer this same network at a consistent enough rate to justify the migration of existing customers from one carrier to the other. But, with the increasing speed of the mobile internet delivery, the advantages of 5G are becoming more apparent by the day.
